Answer the buyer before they message you
Buyers message a seller to ask the size, the material and when it will arrive whenever the description leaves those out. I wrote twelve product frameworks that put those facts in the order Etsy's own Seller Handbook asks for, so you pick your product type, copy the template and replace each word in square brackets with your own facts.

Find your product type
Twelve product types are covered, from jewellery and candles through to digital downloads and vintage. Pick yours or the closest one, and if you make two kinds of thing, I suggest borrowing lines from a second framework.
Follow the section order
Every product framework answers six questions in the same order, starting with what the item is and how big it is and ending with what is in the parcel. I kept the story of the piece for the last line, which is where Etsy's handbook puts it.
Fill the square brackets
Copy the template block from the Word or text file into Etsy's description box. The pack has 309 gaps in all, and I wrote each bracket in plain words so you know what goes there, such as where a necklace sits when it is worn.
Read the worked example
Under each template sits a finished description for an invented product, a sea glass pendant for jewellery and a soy candle for candles. Reading mine next to your draft shows you what a filled framework sounds like.
Tick the checklist
My checklists end each framework. The last line asks you to search the text for an opening square bracket, because one left behind looks careless on a live listing, and then to read the description once on your phone.
Use the two back pages
After the product types come two one-page frameworks. The first gives wording for Etsy's Custom options fields, built around its limit of five fields with one detail each, and the second is text for a care card that I suggest you print and put in the parcel.

Open the description templates on EtsyChecked by a script
Before listing it, I ran a checking script over the PDF, the Word file and the text file. It found the same 14 frameworks in the same order in all three, and 309 gaps to fill, every one in square brackets.
It then filled each template from its own example's answers and got the example back word for word, 14 times out of 14. It found no web addresses in any of the five files in my zip.
Where the order comes from
I built the method on nine Etsy pages, four Seller Handbook articles about descriptions and five help and policy pages, all read on 18 September 2026. The sources file names each one with its article number.
Etsy's guide to listings that convert asks for sizes and ordering directions at the top and the story at the end. Another of its handbook articles says more than half of Etsy's traffic comes from mobile devices, so I kept that order in every framework.
What it leaves out
Titles, tags and alt text are the job of my Etsy listing SEO tracker, and replies to buyers belong in my customer message templates. This pack covers the description box only, from the first line to the last.
I invented every example product and labelled each one as an example. They are there to show what a finished description looks like, and your own facts replace every detail in them.

Does the Word file open in Google Docs?
The Word file opens in Google Docs as well as Word, Pages and LibreOffice. I also put every framework in a plain text file, one block each, for copying straight into Etsy.
What if my product is not one of the twelve?
Pick the closest type and borrow lines from a second framework. If none of them fits, message me from your order and I will tell you which two to combine.
Can I use it on my own website?
The frameworks only ask for facts about the product, so they work on your own site or another marketplace too. My licence covers your own listings in as many shops as you run, and I ask you not to resell or share the files.
Does it write my titles and tags?
